A few nights ago, I hailed a mid-sized cruiser on both channels 13 and 16. She seemed adrift in the main ship channel. No running lights, only some glowing light in her stern. Not a peep back on the radio. As there were several tugs heading out and two barges at an anchorage nearby, I went over to see if all was OK. They were absolutely fine. The two cameramen, a sound technician, a lighting person and two completely nude adult actresses were “shooting a scene”. After a few colorful swears from one of the cameramen, because they had to start again, they came to their senses and politely listened to their dilemma and appreciated the heads up. I suggested a safer, more discrete part of the harbor to shoot – behind Spectacle Island. I assume that’s where they headed to restart their lights, camera and um action.
